"We were 16, it was the middle of the '60s, and we ran away and went to Haight-Ashbury. We were going to play rock n' roll and do artwork, just went out to join the hippies. We got out there after midnight and slept on some apartment steps. Police took us to the juvenile detention center and called our mothers. They let us sit in detention for two weeks.
