A white carnation that was dyed pink using food coloring is pictured at Frontline Ministries in downtown Austin on Thursday evening prior to the first official meeting of Stand Up, an Austin High School student-run group founded in response to the recent HIV outbreak in Scott County. Four members of the group met with middle and elementary school students to educate them and discuss various topics surrounding the epidemic. The group promotes positive approaches to community issues, and they used the dyed flower to show their fellow youth how a small amount of something can cause change. Staff photo by Christopher Fryer
