Family photographs are pictured on the refrigerator behind Ann Whalen, 71, as she prepares an afternoon snack for her grandson in their Jeffersonville home on Wednesday. Whallen is unable to work because of health issues, which leaves her husband's salary as a convenience store manager as their sole income.
