Daihzey Westmoreland, 18, uses a computer at the New Albany-Floyd County Public Library. Westmoreland is a resident at Open Door Youth Services in Floyd County and occasionally spends time at the library to communicate with family online and to get a break from life in the youth shelter. She left her mother's home in the Indianapolis area at the age of 16 due to emotional and physical abuse, and spent about two years in various levels of homelessness before being placed at Open Door by the Indiana Department of Child Services in November of last year.
