Marissa Higgins, 10, with Girl Scout Troop 114, places books into the new Little Free Library that her troop donated as their year-end service project during a ribbon cutting ceremony at Silver Street Park in New Albany on Thursday evening. The 13 scouts in the troop were involved in every step of the construction of the library, from the initial design to the final paint job, with help from a friend of the troop for the advanced carpentry. “We are very fortunate to have a great group of young leaders like Girl Scout Troop 114 engaging their community and promoting literacy,” said New Albany Mayor Jeff Gahan, who was in attendance at the ceremony.
